Free Show in Loveland With Hot Chelle Rae Frontman, Ryan Follese
But, I wouldn't expect any 'I Like It Like That' tonight, tonight.
Windows down, chillin' with the radio on is how I spent much of my summer of 2011, and Nashville's up-and-coming Hot Chelle Rae was often on it. They definitely walked right down the middle of the line that separates rock and pop; tattooed, skinny-jean-wearing alt-girl eye candy with a total bubble-gummy 5 Seconds of Summer, All-American Rejects thing going on.
The band's radio hits were admittedly hella catchy, but we didn't really know what happened to Hot Chelle Rae; They came, they went, and all they left me was the imagery of a tattoo that looks like Zach Galifianakis and a sticker from the 2010 Vans Warped Tour. Then, the unexpected happened.
OK, that was too dramatic, sorry. Frontman Ryan Follese is now focusing on a solo country project -- yes, country. His new song, 'Float Your Boat,' could have been a Hot Chelle Rae song if you water down the twang and throw a Pretty Little Liars starlet into the music video.
Follese is being featured as a K99 New From Nashville artist, and will be giving a free, stripped down performance at the Boot Grill in Loveland tonight at 5:30.
