If you're fortunate enough to get this day off (hopefully to reflect on what Martin Luther King, Jr., did for human rights and the fact that we have made some progress in that direction - not to mention the inspiration of his life of going against the norms to stand up for something in his heart that wouldn't go away,) you can get into Rocky Mountain National Park for free!  All national parks are offering free entrance today.

Don't forget Highway 34 up to Estes Park is still closed, though, to do official repairs from the damage caused from flooding that happened in the Big Thompson Canyon in 2013.

The best way to get to the park is probably to go directly west of Longmont, through Lyons, and up via Highway 36.  Still a beautiful drive - just a little bit longer than usual.

I took that route a few months back, and I learned that there is a second Colorado Cherry Company.  Perhaps that's old news to you, but I think it's really cool that you can still stop and get one of those amazing cherry pies of theirs on the way up to Estes, even though you can't get to the store you're used to seeing.
