Fort Collins Police Take Kids Back-to-School Shopping, Restore Faith in Humanity
There's a whole lot of crap going on right now, we all know that. But, last week, our local police reminded us that even with all the bad, there is still room for positivity.
Last week, Fort Collins Police served a high-risk warrant at a local hotel — something they had to do. What they didn't have to do is what turned this story from bad to good.
According to a post shared on the Fort Collins Police Services Facebook page, when officers arrived at the hotel in search of a suspect, what they found was that the suspect's children, a ten-year-old boy and 13-year-old girl, had been living there in squalor.
"The living conditions in the room were horrible with mice feces and dirty clothes scattered everywhere. The boy was going to be placed with his grandparents, and during a search for clean clothes, officers learned that he didn’t have anything salvageable. Detective Brian immediately went out to personally purchase clothes and sneakers for the boy so he'd have something clean and comfortable to call his own." - Fort Collins Police Services Facebook
The post, which you can read in its entirety below, also goes on to share that with the help of donations, Fort Collins police officers were able to take both kids back-to-school shopping. They were also able to stock the grandma's fridge with food, since the children would be left in her custody.
There is so much negativity right now, it's nice to see our officers going above and beyond, and restoring a bit of our faith in humanity by sharing compassion.
Thanks, Fort Collins Police Services!
