Fort Collins has made a few changes to its mask order, which went into effect on May 4, 2020, including when the mandate ends and the possible punishments for violators.

The Fort Collins City Council, on Tuesday, May 5, 2020, made changes to the city's emergency order requiring masks/face coverings in nearly all enclosed public places.

Changes include:

  • The order will expire on May 30, 2020, as opposed to being 'open-ended.'
  • People violating the order could receive a civil infraction rather than a misdemeanor criminal charge.
  • Persons who are responsible for making sure everyone wears a mask in their establishment can require someone who refuses to wear a face-covering to leave the premises, but they will not face penalties under the order for allowing someone to remain without a face covering.
  • Signs that inform the public about the rule must now be printed in English and in Spanish.

All other conditions of the order stay in place, which you can see HERE.
