A few years ago, a person on a motorcycle was caught going an absolutely insane 168 mph, which is extremely reckless behavior.

However, places in Northern Colorado, like Fort Collins, are also prime places for speeders as well.

For example, a person got caught in Fort Collins going 103 mph in a 40 mph zone. It’s hard to imagine someone going over 60 mph over the speed limit, but it happens.

WIth all of its problems with speeders throughout the years, Fort Collins has now outfitted camera-enforced intersections to not only catch people running red lights, but to crack down on speeders as well.

As it would turn out, camera related speeding tickets are going to be coming around to the Choice City sooner than some may think.

Automated Speeding Tickets to Be Handed Out by the End of November

If you remember back to earlier this year in the summer, the Fort Collins City Council approved the use of speed cameras in designated areas.

It’s one of those policies that when it first gets signed, it doesn’t feel like it’ll be put into practice for a long time.

In the past, cameras were only allowed to be used in neighborhoods, roads adjacent to parks, and construction and school zones. Now, it will be expanded to more areas.

Six busy intersections in Fort Collins have already been retrofitted to give out speeding tickets, and some people in the area may have already gotten a ticket.

According to the Coloradoan, starting on October 25th, these cameras started to take pictures of people speeding through certain intersections in Colorado.

People would then get a ticket in the mail. However, they were just warnings. This 30 day period has been a test of the system and a way to get people to understand the new system.

However, starting on November 24th, these cameras will actually be handing out citations to drivers going over the speed limit.
