February is Black Dog and Cat Syndrome Awareness Month in Colorado
For some reason, black dogs and cats face more hurdles than other dogs when it comes to getting adopted. Whether it's that witchy black cat superstition or the mysterious gleam of a black dog's fur, many who work in the rescue field say that at the end of the day, black dogs and cats fill their shelters more than any other color of pet.
All Aboard Animal Rescue, a local Colorado rescue organization, posted about the phenomenon yesterday, calling it 'Black Dog and Cat Syndrome'.
In their post, they call the black dogs and cats 'friendly shadows', and urge the community to look at them the same way.
