Pete Wentz, ice cream man?

That's what some Fall Out Boy fans got a taste of when they turned up early at Tuesday's (Sept. 10) secret gig to christen the band's upcoming "Hella Mega Tour" with Green Day and Weezer. In fact, Wentz said the band bought the truck to coincide with the tour and their accompanying new single, "Dear Future Self (Hands Up)."

That's right, lucky patrons who came ahead of time to the Whisky a Go Go in Los Angeles yesterday got the unique experience of being served ice cream from the Fall Out Boy truck by the band's bassist and figurehead. The secret gig later that day included all three bands to launch the tour together. See fan-captured images and videos of the Fall Out Boy ice cream truck down toward the bottom of this post.

"I bought an ice cream truck yesterday," Wentz told Apple Music's Beats 1 host Zane Lowe earlier this week. "We're going to drive that around and put out some Fall Out Boy ice cream. I have a guy like this, that procures the ice cream truck for me. And, yes, that's true."

He continued, "Because sometimes I feel like we'll be talking. Like, me and Patrick [Stump] will be talking. And it's like, well fuck it. Like we could even like do like an ice cream or something. You know? It doesn't have to be an album. And then the next thing you know, you're trying to buy the ice cream truck. I think we're going to collaborate with it, because there's all this FDA stuff we would have to go through—I've thought about it. And in relation to the song, there's nothing sadder than when you see an ice cream that has come off the cone, and is on the ground. Like, that's the saddest. I want to do a whole Instagram of those. They're really sad."

And boy did he deliver. As noted by Rock Sound, Wentz prepped fans for the ice cream onslaught on Twitter Tuesday: "LA, stop by @thewhiskyagogo to get your sweet tooth served by @petewentz around 2:30."

The "Hella Mega Tour" was first teased by Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong on Monday (Sept. 9) when a secret video of the frontman was discovered by fans. The following day, the tour was ultimately revealed alongside a new single from each of the three acts: "Dear Future Self (Hands Up)" by Fall Out Boy, Green Day's "Father of All Motherfuckers" and "The End of the Game" from Weezer.
