Emergency crews are battling a wildfire that began burning on the southeast side of Estes Park at approximately 6:30 a.m. on the morning of November 16.

According to Estes Valley Fire, the blaze broke out in the area of Little Valley.

Currently, mandatory evacuations have been ordered for residents and business occupants in the area of Little Valley and Hermit Park due to immediate and imminent danger.

Voluntary evacuations are advised for those in the Meadowdale area as well as those in the uplands area of Fish Creek Road. Additionally, residents with health conditions that may be aggravated by the fire are encouraged to leave the area. Crews suggest moving livestock and pets in the immediate future as well.

As of 8:30 a.m. on November 16 the fire was 20 acres in size. High winds are fueling the fire, but the actual cause is still unknown as of now. No structures have been lost at this time.

For the safety of everyone, emergency crews ask that people avoid the area of Little Valley and Fish Creek near Kruger Rock so that they are able to work on getting the flames under control.

An evacuation site has been set up at the Estes Park Event Center 1125 Rooftop Way. To receive updates regarding the Little Valley Fire, text the word LCEVAC to 888777. The Larimer County Sheriff will also be updating locals about the fire.

More updates will be made available as they are released. Flames can currently be seen as far as north Loveland.
