Energy Company Warns Coloradans About Power Outages
Recently in Colorado, there’s been a bit of an unsavory development that’s been affecting people all over the state; more power outages.
Earlier in the year, thousands of people across the Front Range were left in the dark after a wind storm took out power.
Later on, the largest energy company in the state, Xcel Energy, announced that they are looking to both increase prices and have the ability to shut off power whenever they’d like in Colorado.
This obviously angered a lot of people, since they already have seemed to have jacked up prices.
However, for people out on the Western Slope, they’re warning things could get a little chippy this weekend.
Xcel Expects Outages in Western Colorado
Coming up this weekend on the Western Slope is going to be a bit of a dozy for sure.
High winds are beating down on the other side of the state at the moment, and the risk of wildfires only continues to grow.
With all of that being taken into consideration, Xcel Energy has sent out a warning to its customers that they could experience power outages throughout the day.
The main worry is that not only is the weather itself perfect for a fire to start, but the wind has the potential to spread it very quickly.
One of the most common ways a wildfire can begin is when power lines spark, so Xcel may have to display some caution on their end.
However, turning the power off will definitely affect the lives of thousands of people on the Western Slope, so there’s no perfect solution to the problem.
