On Thursday, May 12, join 94.3 The X for an Edge of The X stripped down performance with 7S Entertainment artist (and Denver's own), 888. The 'happy hour' set starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Downtown Artery in Old Town Fort Collins and is free and open to the  public, followed by a performance by New Beat Fund.

So, here's the thing. Everyone's all about this up-and-coming electronic/alt-rock band, 888. ...And I'm over here like, 'Hey, Drop Dead, Gorgeous. I see you.'

I'm a product of the Denver suburbs myself, and I would say circa 2007(??), I had some 'Daniel, Where's the Boat' in my headphones because I was fifteen and it was just what I needed, OK?

Drop Dead, Gorgeous

A decade later, the original Drop Dead, Gorgeous band members are back as 888 and, as AP said, have 'ditched their manic-metal tendencies for an infectious breed of radio-worthy alt-pop.'

And you know what? I love f*ing love it. I know I'm a lot different now than I was when I was a DDG fan; everyone grows up, and everyone changes. I think I can speak for us all when I say that guys' pants were really really tight back then, so we've really come a long way all around. Also, I do work in alt rock radio, so that may have something to do with my fondness of the band's radio-friendly new sound.

While all change, of any kind, will grant some criticism, I think how these three have recreated themselves musically is just an account of their diversity as artists.

If you haven't jammed to 'Critical Mistakes' on The X, check it out here, and then come check it out LIVE at the Artery with us:
