After a bit of a disappointing roster news day from the Colorado Eagles, they promised to make up for it soon. They delivered.

The Colorado Eagles have just announced another one-year roster addition: veteran forward Dalton Smith.

Smith, son of former NHL forward Derrick Smith, has a lot of familial ties to professional hockey. Smith is also the nephew of fellow NHL stars Keith Primeau and Wayne Primeau.

Prior to Smith joining the Eagles, he played several stints with five other AHL teams, amassing 383 total AHL games. The veteran winger also skated in the NHL for one season with the Buffalo Sabres during the 2019-20 campaign.

Smith was a second-round pick to the Columbus Blue Jackets back in 2010 and, in three of his eight AHL seasons, generated at least 100 penalty infraction minutes. While skating in the OHL from 2008-2012, Smith was a key player, collecting 50 goals, 55 assists adn 328 PIM's in 196 games while in the league.

Smith joins Eagles left wing vet Travis Barron and the rest of the team's stacked forwards roster as they look ahead at the start of the home season on Friday, Oct. 22.
