A 36-year-old Fort Collins man was arrested on Friday, June 26, following his involvement in a vehicle pursuit that ultimately ended in a serious accident.

At approximately 8:22 p.m. on Friday evening, deputies with the Larimer County Sheriff's Office attempted to pull over a white Honda Civic for traffic violations in the area of Mulberry and I-25.

The suspect vehicle failed to stop for police and a pursuit was initiated, with speeds reaching a maximum of 50 mph. As the driver continued to flee, he ran a stop sign at the intersection of Timberline and Vine and crashed into a red Ford F150.

The driver of the Ford pickup was checked out on the scene by medical personnel and declined medical treatment.

The suspect in the white Honda was extricated from his vehicle and then transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. This driver has now been identified as Michael Spooner.

Upon being released from the hospital, allegations will be sought against Spooner for Felony Eluding, which is a Class 5 Felony. In addition, Spooner also had a felony warrant out of Fort Collins for Stalking and Violation of a Restraining Order.

Fort Collins Police Services responded to the scene to take the accident report, and the Larimer County CRASH Team responded to assist with the investigation.
