Denver Named a Top 2021 Winter Holiday Travel Destination
According to WalletHub, Denver was ranked one of the top destinations in the U.S. for holiday travel this year... just ignore our COVID-19 numbers.
Based on 39 key metrics, the Mile High City was ranked the seventh-best place to travel during the holiday season for those who like the cold. The ranking was largely based on the number of cold weather activities available for tourists (WalletHub ranked it the forth-best city in terms of cold weather fun, like skiing).
Denver also ranked eighth in local costs and attractions and ninth in weather, because you can't beat 300 days of sunshine, even if there's a little frost in the air.
Other top cold weather destinations for travelers this year included Chicago, Albuquerque, New York and Atlanta, which, to be honest, I didn't know was cold?
On the other side of the coin, WalletHub also ranked the top destinations for those fond of warm weather. Phoenix was ranked seventh, followed by San Diego, Las Vegas and Austin at number one.
BTW, if you want to escape the cold of Colorado and fly to the number two warm weather destination, you can now fly direct from Loveland to Las Vegas, Nevada, via the Northern Colorado Regional Airport (FNL). You can now skip Denver International Airport and fly direct to Los Angeles, too (but it ranked 12th on WalletHub's list).
