For one, Vanderbilt has been an absolutely awesome pleasant surprise this season, and after getting a win against Ball State this weekend, are ranked in the Top 25 polls for the first time since 2013.

It also feels like we’re watching a college football powerhouse, Alabama, start to lose steam after arguably the best coach of all time, Nick Saban, retired after last season.

Here in Colorado, we were expecting big things from our football programs. In the preseason, the CSU Rams and Air Force Falcons were both predicted to get into a bowl game.

With Colorado State’s win against the Falcon’s this weekend, not only do the Rams have their first winning record since 2017 (4-3), but Air Force looks much worse than predicted.

A team that was not expected to play in a bowl game this year were the Colorado Buffaloes, and after a brutal stretch to end the season 4-8 last year, there was definitely some reason to doubt.

However, after getting off to a great 5-2 start, it seems like the Buffaloes can certainly expect to see action after the regular season.

With that being said, a former commander-in-chief made a comment that seemed to tick off the Buffs’ head coach.

Former President Barack Obama mentioned the Colorado Buffaloes while doing an event in Arizona on Friday.

According to USA Today, Obama noted that when he landed in Arizona, he saw the Buffs’ busses ready to pick them up at the airport.

He then said:

“And I know Colorado’s got a couple good players, But I also know you guys have beaten them twice in a row, so don’t bet against the Wildcats tomorrow”.

The Arizona Wildcats would then go on to get absolutely pummeled at home by Colorado, 34-7.

Deion Sanders, Colorado’s head coach, seemed to take offense to Obama’s statement.

After the game in a press conference, he remarked that while he does like President Obama, he:

“...heard what he said, you know?”

Sanders brought up the former President's remarks without being asked, which definitely shows it didn’t sit right with him.

If anything, Obama’s remarks didn’t really seem like a huge dig at Colorado, more so a way to pump up the Arizona crowd.
