A dangerous fugitive was arrested on multiple felony warrants last week after local law enforcement discovered him to be hiding out at a desolate location in Weld County.

At approximately 6 a.m. on Wednesday (October 27) the Weld County Regional SWAT Team arrived at a property in rural Weld County southeast of Roggen near the Weld, Adams, and Morgan county lines.

Once on scene, the SWAT Team located their suspect, 37-year-old transient, James William Olin, inside a stolen fifth-wheel trailer.

At the time, Olin was wanted on multiple felony warrants, including first-degree assault on a peace officer, stemming from an incident in Adams County in 2020 in which he was accused of dragging a police officer with his car.

The SWAT Team ordered Olin to surrender, but the suspect remained in the trailer for more than an hour. Around 7:30 a.m. the SWAT Team deployed one round of tear gas into the trailer and Olin gave up without further incident.
