A dangerous fugitive was arrested on multiple felony warrants last week after local law enforcement discovered him to be hiding out at a desolate location in Weld County.
At approximately 6 a.m. on Wednesday (October 27) the Weld County Regional SWAT Team arrived at a property in rural Weld County southeast of Roggen near the Weld, Adams, and Morgan county lines.
Once on scene, the SWAT Team located their suspect, 37-year-old transient, James William Olin, inside a stolen fifth-wheel trailer.
At the time, Olin was wanted on multiple felony warrants, including first-degree assault on a peace officer, stemming from an incident in Adams County in 2020 in which he was accused of dragging a police officer with his car.
The SWAT Team ordered Olin to surrender, but the suspect remained in the trailer for more than an hour. Around 7:30 a.m. the SWAT Team deployed one round of tear gas into the trailer and Olin gave up without further incident.
Anyone with information regarding this or any other crime is asked to call the Weld County Sheriff’s Office at (970) 356-4015 or Northern Colorado Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Tips can also be submitted through the Crime Stoppers website at www.NoCoCrimeStoppers.com.
