Another round of Canada Geese cullings will happen this year at Denver parks according to the Denver Channel. Efforts in years past to scare the geese away from the parks have failed and now have resulted in the killing of the geese.

The geese have no natural predators in the parks and their population has increased to around 5,000. Hundreds of the geese will be killed off in the next few weeks in hopes to keep their populations in the city parks in check.

Geese can poop around a pound per day. With the given population of the year-round geese, that is approximately 1.8 million pounds of feces that the geese are leaving in the city parks annually. A mess to say the least. The geese can also damage waterways and spread diseases.
