CSU's Niko Medved Named Mountain West Coach of the Year

Exciting news for Northern Colorado sports: The head men's basketball coach for Colorado State University, Niko Medved, was recognized for his achievements this week.

According to a press release from Colorado State Athletics, Medved has officially been named the Mountain West Coach of the Year by the league's media. Medved is known for leading the Rams to the most conference wins ever in the program's history in 2020, even during a COVID-19 shortened season.

In 2021, Medved is in his third year as head coach of the Rams. He also served as the team's assistant coach from 2007-2013. In his time as head coach, Medved has helped the Rams make a nine-win improvement.

Others on the team also gained accolades: Sophomore forward David Roddy was selected to the first team and sophomore guard Isaiah Stevens earned second-team honors. According to the press release, Roddy "ranked 13^th in assists at 2.83 per game" with Stevens "averaging 15.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 5.9 assists in conference action", and ranking 11th in scoring."

Niko Medved has helped these students and more become the best athletes they can be while leading the men's basketball team to the best conference season in history. Congratulations, coach, it's well-deserved!
