An arrest has been made in the criminal trespass that took place Tuesday night in Berthoud.

Michael Anthony Barton, 34, of Loveland was arrested and transported to a hospital after breaking a window of a Berthoud home Tuesday at approximately 6:57 p.m., according to a press release from the Larimer County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were dispatched to the 1000 block of 3rd Street in Berthoud after receiving a call from a concerned neighbor of a possible burglary in progress. The caller told dispatch an unknown man - later identified as Barton - had broken a window at the home.

Upon arrival, a deputy found Barton "extremely intoxicated" behind a nearby home. When he began to show aggression toward the deputy and refused to obey commands, the deputy deployed a Taser to gain control of him.

Barton was taken into custody without further incident and booked into the Larimer County Jail on $250 bond after he was treated for minor injuries sustained when breaking the window.

He is being charged with criminal mischief, obstruct peace officer, second degree criminal tampering, and second degree criminal trespass, all misdemeanors. He was also booked on 2 outstanding misdemeanor warrants.
