Colorado’s ‘World’s Highest Tubing Hill’ Open for the Season

Ok, confession time: I haven’t been skiing in more years than I’m willing to admit to. However, I’m more than ready to hit Keystone’s tubing slopes instead, and I know it’ll deliver in a similar fashion.

According to Out There Colorado, Keystone’s Mountaintop Tubing Hill opened for the 2020-2021 winter season Saturday (Dec. 12). As a result, we get to enjoy the same high-flying views that skiing provides, all while lounging in a comfy plastic donut. And we know those views will be impressive, since the hill’s moniker comes from our classic Colorado elevation, which leaves Keystone’s tubing hill sitting pretty at 11,640 feet above sea level.

If you decide to hit the hill, you get to choose between six lanes for your trip, each varying in length from 400 to 650 ft. Then, you don’t even have to schlep back up the hill on your own—instead, there’s a lift service that delivers you back to the top in comfort.

Tubing sessions last an hour, and if you’re bringing your kid with you, they need to be at least 4 years old and 3.5 feet tall to ride. You’ll also be looking at a ticket price of $45, unless you take the discounted 30-minute session, which you can purchase for $30 at 3:30 p.m. But you’ll have to be economic with your time if you do the half-hour session, since the tubing hill closes at 4 p.m. each day.

Also, as is common nowadays, you’ll need to reserve a tubing session beforehand, and should plan to arrive a solid hour early to take care of parking and waivers. You’ll be able to check in for your tubing session at River Run Village, which is next to the gondola and the Children’s Ski School.
