Colorado Ski Resort Now Open Four Days a Week Thanks to Lack of Snow
The lack of snow we've gotten in Colorado means no more hitting the slopes in the middle of the week at this popular destination.
According to Denver Posts' The Know, Powderhorn Mountain Resort is cutting back on its hours of operation... by a lot.
In a press release, Powderhorn's General Manager Sam Williams said, 'Reducing our operating schedule has been an incredibly difficult decision but based on the minimal amount of natural snowfall this season, it has become necessary to preserve the current snowpack for higher traffic days of the week.'
The silver lining of this cloud (or...lack of cloud), Ryan Robinson (Marketing and Sales Manager) said, is that the sunshine and warm weather is actually ideal for beginners who are just learning to ski or ride the slopes.
For now, Powderhorn lifts will only operate Thursday - Sunday every week. While most Northern Coloradans probably don't make trips up to the Grand Mesa region often, this is a little ominous for those who like to head up I-70, because we're all aware that the snowfall this year has not been great.
As far as we know, the I-70 resorts on the Front Range are fully operating at this time.
