Colorado Officially Home to the Best Christmas Town in the U.S.
Every single year, whenever Halloween ends and we get to the first day of November, we pretty much are immediately inundated with Christmas. Christmas advertising, Christmas themed drinks, you know the drill by now.
I mean, you’d think that Thanksgiving must be some sort of minor holiday based on how quickly we are to jump to bringing around the Christmas spirit.
However, you know what they say: If you can’t beat em’, join em’.
Christmas is right around the corner!
You can feel the energy in the air, with places like Fort Collins setting up lights around Old Town for yet another holiday season.
While many people love to stay home with their families for Christmas, some places lend themselves amazingly for this time of year. However, some people enjoy using the holidays as a chance to take a vacation.
As it would turn out, if you’re looking for the place to spend Christmas this year, Colorado has the best place in the country for it.
Aspen Ranks as the Best Town in the Country For Christmas
Travel + Leisure recently wanted to take a look across the country to find the best towns to visit for Christmas.
Out of 25 different towns, for their top pick, they decided to go with one of the many different Colorado ski towns that put on a great Christmas display: Aspen.
They cite Aspen as having a great small-town feel that adds to the sense of Christmas spirit. Obviously, the fact that you’ll almost certainly have a white Christmas helps with the ranking as well.
In Aspen, you’re never far away from Christmas carolers and decorations that really bring the mood up.
They also mention that the cookie exchanges, el meet-and-greets, and public s’mores roasts are a great bonus.
However, my only personal gripe with the ranking is them putting “luxe-living” as a major selling point.
It’s no secret that while Aspen can be a good vacation spot, it’s hard for many people to afford visiting due to the insanely high prices. This doesn’t even factor in if you want to go skiing, either.
Did Any Other Colorado Towns Make the List?
As it would turn out, Aspen is not the only great Christmas town in Colorado.
In fact, there're plenty of fantastic options around Colorado that all made the Top 25.
Coming in at 18th is Telluride, which they placed because of their annual Ski Tree centerpiece that the locals love.
Breckenridge then took the 6 spot, because of awesome events like Race of the Santas they put on each year.
Finally, Vail took 3rd place, both for its great coffee and cocktails. Interestingly, they mostly mention how fun it is during New Year’s Eve. Not very Christmas but that’s fine.
Interestingly, these are all pretty expensive ski towns. Are there any other towns in Colorado that are great for Christmas but won't make you break the bank. Let us know.
