The Colorado Rockies did not make the World Series this year, however, we have a native Coloradan who will be a big part of the 2020 Fall Classic.

Salina native Chris Guccione will be working his second World Series as an umpire, according to 9News.

His first was one of the most memorable in Major League Baseball history. Back in 2016 Guccione made the final call for the final out when the Chicago Cubs broke baseball's longest championship drought of 108 years and claimed the World Series title in Cleveland.

This year, the game will be very different, as the matchup between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Tampa Bay Rays will be played at a neutral site in Arlington, Texas.

Chris will be working a variety of roles on the field (as all umpires do) when they rotate umpiring positions throughout the series. Chris will be starting out as the second base umpire in Game 1 and will be behind the plate in Game 4.

Being the sports nut that I am, I always thought it would be a cool gig to either be an NFL referee or MLB umpire. As I'm watching the games this year, I'll be living vicariously through Chris Guccione.

Good luck, Chris, you'll be great.
