Colorado Loves This Firefighter, Here’s What We Know
A Cameron Peak Fire Public Information Officer may have just made Coloradans (we're looking at you, Estes Park) swoon while teaching us what a 'hydrophobic effect' is.
Here's what we know: His name is Kale Casey, and he's not from Colorado, he's actually from Alaska. But, he also helped fight the Grizzly Creek Fire over the summer.
Casey is the Public Information Officer for the Alaska Interagency Incident Management Team and Pacific Northwest Team 2. And, he's also a dog lover — Oh my gosh, stop.
Casey is a firefighter in the summers, and is a sportscaster who covers the Iditarod and other dog races in Alaska the rest of the year.
'Kale spends quite a bit of time and resources traveling the world to bring you exciting live coverage of mushing, spring sled dogs, canicross, bikejoring and other exciting events,' Casey's website says. 'Kale has covered the Iditarod for the past 4 years and has served as the official live announcer for the Anchorage Fur Rondy 2019 & 2020, as well as the IFSS World Championships in Bessans, France 2019.'
Right now though, Casey is in Colorado assisting with our wildfires, and, most importantly, is sharing some really pertinent info about flood safety (below). Thank you PIO Casey, and everyone else on the frontlines, for helping fight fires here in Colorado.
