According to a new poll, Colorado has been ranked the 6th happiest state in America.

A new Gallup-Healthways poll was released last week that rates the happiness of the residents of each U.S. state. The results are based on data collected from nearly 200,000 interviews nationwide, during 2014.

There are (according to this particular poll) five essential elements of happiness and well-being. They are Purpose (motivation and goal achievement), Social (positive relationships), Financial (this one's obvious),  Community (feelings like safety and pride) and Physical (health).

We, Colorado, came in 6th.

Who was ahead of us? Well, Alaska was number one. Hawaii was number two, then South Dakota, Wyoming and Montana.

I won't dispute Alaska. I have friends that live up there and they love it. It's beautiful and wild and full of adventure. I get it. And Hawaii? Yeah. Totally. I think I'd probably be pretty happy all the time if I lived in Hawaii, too.

But South Dakota? And Montana? And freaking Wyoming?

No way. We're way happier than those guys. Way.
