Colorado Is Having a Music Festival, But Attendees Must Sign COVID-19 Waiver

The show must go on in one Colorado county — one which has reportedly only had a few confirmed cases of COVID-19.

According to CBS4 in Denver, Lincoln County's Colorado Prairie Music Music Festival is still on for August 8 in Hugo. The low number of cases isn't that surprising, however, considering the town has less than 800 people.

Lincoln County is inviting out-of-town guests to come visit for the festival, which includes a fair, rodeo, camping and live music. County artist Aaron Watson is still set to headline.

It all sounds pretty typical for a small-town summer festival... except the part where the governor just re-declared a state of disaster, and guests have to sign a waiver that absolves the music festival organizers of any responsibility if people contract the virus.

Similar events like Larimer County Fair, Greeley Stampede, Taste of Fort Collins and Cheyenne Frontier Days all canceled, postponed or moved to virtual shows for 2020.

The festival says it will follow CDC guidelines, stating, 'ALL attendees are encouraged to 1. Wear a mask 2.Practice proper hand hygiene 3. Practice Social Distancing 4. By attending the event you absolve the Colorado Prairie Music Arts and Music Council, its board, volunteers and staff of any liability should you contract COVID-19.'

Would you do it? Or, will this be similar to the recent Chase Rice concert, where no one wore a mask and thousands of people attended without social distancing?
