The Colorado High School Athletic Association (CHSAA) answered the question of 'Will we play?'  with a 'No.'

The CHSAA announced on Tuesday morning (April 21, 2020) that in conjunction with Governor Polis canceling all in-person learning for the remainder of the school year, they will be canceling the spring sports season across the state.

This difficult decision was reached due to the association's inability to assure the safety of all involved and the assessment given by the Sports Medicine Advisory Committee (who said it would be 'impractical and irresponsible' to hold any events, even through the summer).

The CHSAA Commissioner Rhonda-Blanford Green accompanied the organization's announcement with this online statement:

Our hats are off to the many seniors that have shown maturity and resolve as their culminating year of high school has been impacted beyond activities and athletics due to this worldwide COVID-19 pandemic. The Class of 2020 will not be forgotten.

The spring sports season ends on June 1.

The CHSAA is hoping that by the fall season, Colorado high school sports will be able to resume with a 'somewhat' normal schedule, but will be working on a contingency plan if needed.
