With Colorado's statewide mask order about to expire, Governor Jared Polis extended it another 30 days on Tuesday.

The mask order was first put in place in July and has been extended each month since. It now goes through early January.

The order requires mask face coverings in indoor buildings as a way to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Polis recently dealt with his own bout of COVID-19. First gentleman Marlon Reis was briefly hospitalized with COVID-19 but was released on Tuesday, according to CBS4 Denver.

The latest state data shares that 1,629 are currently hospitalized with COVID-19. About 45% of critical care ventilators are in use.
