99.9 The Point's Big Rob Returns As In-Arena Host For The Colorado Eagles

Bear with me as I write this extremely exciting article about myself. It's awkward, and I'll do my best not to write in the third person, but at times it might be tough to avoid … here goes.

Two-and-a-half years since the last time I stepped onto the ice, I'll be returning to the Budweiser Events Center as the in-arena host for the Colorado Eagles. I held this position for eight seasons, ironically debuting in their 10th anniversary season back in 2012. Now, 10 years later, after a year away, I'm returning to help this team, and its amazing fans celebrate 20 years of Colorado Eagles hockey in Northern Colorado.

Here's the official Press Release that came out today.

Colorado Eagles, Townsquare Media Welcome back Big Rob as In-Arena Host.

WINDSOR, CO. – The Colorado Eagles and Townsquare media are excited to announce that Big Rob will be returning this season as the Eagles in-arena host at the Budweiser Events Center, beginning Friday, October 21st when Colorado takes on the Calgary Wranglers.

“It will be exciting to have Big Rob back in the building,” said Eagles president Ryan Bach. “His energy and enthusiasm have been a big part of our game day experience and its fitting for him to return for our 20th anniversary season.”

Big Rob began his initial tenure as the team’s in-arena host during the Eagles 10th anniversary season in 2012-13, as the 2022-23 campaign will mark his ninth year entertaining the fans at the BEC.

"After moving to Townsquare Media and 99.9 The Point, the radio home of the Colorado Eagles, it just made sense to get back to what I love,” said Big Rob.  “I’ve missed the team and the FANS so much! I’m honored to re-join the team and help celebrate their historic 20th Anniversary. Eagles Country, Let's Fly!"

I mentioned two-and-a-half years, even though technically, I had only missed one season. The 2019-20 season ended in March 2020. And the entire 2020-21 season was played without fans. So, yes, it has been a long time.

I'd be lying to you if I said I wasn't a ball of nerves. I suppose it should be like riding a bike, and I'm sure once I get on the mike and feed off of the energy from the best fanbase in the entire AHL. It'll be like I never left. But I expect some lack of sleep until Friday night, as I'm about as nervous as it gets.

I couldn't be more excited to be back screaming, yelling, and cheering with all of my fellow Eagles Country Fanatics. I'm so thankful for the opportunity to return to something that was such a massive part of my life for nearly a decade. I've missed you fans dearly, and you're why I can't wait to get back "home." See you this weekend at the BEC for the Eagle's home opening weekend!
