When U.S. News ranked the top states in the country, they placed Colorado as the third most dangerous.

The crime statistics aren’t great either. We have a violent crime rate of 492 per 100,000, which includes murder, aggravated assault, and robbery amongst many others.

We also have the second highest property crime rate in the country as well, which sits at 3,148 per 100,000.

As it would turn out, though, there may be more safety related issues to worry about than just crime alone here in Colorado

Anidjar & Levine, two personal injury lawyers from Florida, wanted to look at data to find which states may have the most workplace accidents.

They took a look at each state’s monthly Google searches about worker’s compensation over the past 12 months to find out. They then averaged it out and made it per 100,000 residents.

When combing through all of the data, it would turn out on average that Coloradans search for workers compensation for injuries or medical expenses more than any other state.

The average monthly Google searches per 100,000 people is 179.45, which is almost 11 points higher than second place and 128% higher than the national average.

While the data suggests that Colorado may have some unsafe work environment, the study does not dive into detail to find out exactly why that may be.
