The bodies of a mountain climber and cameraman from Colorado have been found buried in a melting glacier 16 years after their disappearance.

According to Denver7, the widow of climber Alex Lowe said in a statement on Friday that 2 other climbers discovered the remains of 2 people partially melting out of the 26,291-foot Shishapangma glacier in Tibet. The bodies were determined to be those of Lowe and Aspen, Colorado, cameraman David Bridges. The climbers died in an avalanche in October 1999; Conrad Anker, a third climber on the expedition who survived, confirmed the bodies were of Lowe and Bridges.

Lowe's widow, Jenni, married his friend and fellow climber Anker. They now live in Bozeman, Montana, where they run the Alex Lowe Charitable Foundation.

Bridges was an accomplished high-altitude climber and cinematographer from Aspen. He passed away at age 29.
