Colorado Buffaloes Star Receiving Major Backlash To Comments
It has already been a bit of a turbulent season for the Colorado Buffaloes football team.
After an interesting first season to say the least, the Buffs came into this year with a good amount of hype, with a big transfer portal and even a high rating in the new EA Sports College Football 25.
However, others were a bit more skeptical.
Brad Crawford, a college football analyst for 247Sports, predicted they would not make a bowl game this year.
Two games into the new season, the Buffaloes are certainly in an interesting position.
After nearly losing to North Dakota State, an FCS school, they went on the road this Saturday to face a heated rival, Nebraska.
They put up a tough performance, losing 28-10.
What has happened since the loss surrounding star quarterback Shedeur Sanders has truly been a media circus.
Shedeur Sanders Blames Offensive Line for Loss
The biggest issue with Colorado’s football team last year was quite simple; their offensive line.
The entire year, Shedeur Sanders consistently had to try to improvise to avoid getting sacked.
This year, they brought in more help to shore up the offensive line, including five star offensive tackle prospect, Jordan Seaton.
However, after continuing to be put under significant pressure, particularly after the Nebraska game, Sanders seemingly placed a good amount of blame on his offensive line.
When asked about how the offensive could improve, he asked a reporter, “I mean, how many times did Raiola get touched”?
Dylan Raiola is the quarterback for Nebraska, and seemed to face less pressure than Sanders throughout the game.
Even though Sanders admitted Nebraska had a great defensive line, it’s obvious he is placing blame on his own offensive line for the offense’s bad performance.
If we’re being honest here, yes, CU’s offensive line played atrociously. However, as a leader on the team, Sanders has been under heavy fire for throwing the people whose job it is to protect him under the bus.
For example, Sports Illustrated said he took “zero accountability” for the loss with those comments.
Shedeur and Deion Sanders Are In Hot Water for Other Reasons, Too
The drama with this team doesn’t seem to end there, though.
People have also questioned Shedeur Sanders’ leadership after he left the field with two minutes left to play in the game.
While many people took issue with this, saying he was not big enough to stay after the game and shake hands, Deion Sanders said he was getting checked for a concussion.
To be fair, he did take a decent blow to the head at one point in the game.
There was also a rumor that Coach Prime asked the university to play his son’s rap song instead of the school’s fight song if Shedeur scored.
However, this report has been disputed from other sources along with Deion himself.
