Colorado Announces COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Plan
Governor Jared Polis announced Colorado's free COVID-19 vaccine distribution plan on Wednesday afternoon. Here's the gist of it (though subject to change).
According to CBS4's Tim Wieland, Colorado will start off with over 46,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine, which is expected to arrive next week, followed by over 95,000 doses of Moderna's vaccine.
First up for the vaccine this winter will be the high-risk healthcare workers treating COVID-19 patients, and residents and staff in long-term care facilities. After them, first responders and home health, hospice and dental workers will receive the vaccine as well.
The spring round will cover high-risk individuals, employees of high-density workplaces (like meatpacking plants), grocery store workers, school staff and those over the age of 65. Everyone else — generally healthy and between the ages of 18 and 64 — is expected to get vaccinated in the summer of 2021.
Reportedly, there's talk that state prisoners could get 'prioritized' over individuals 65 and older.
