Big news for Northern Colorado, especially if you're a hockey fan. The NCAA has announced that the Budweiser Events Center will play host to the Division 1 Men's Hockey tournaments for 2022 and 2026.

It's actually big news for us here in the region if you're NOT a hockey fan because of how much this will stimulate our economy. With fans coming into our area and spending their hard earned money on our hotels, restaurants, shopping etc...this is pretty exciting news. Plus hosting events like this is a wonderful way to draw future tourism because once these people who typically have never been to our area see how awesome it really is, hopefully they'll come back.

The Colorado Eagles, City of Loveland and Larimer County all played a critical role in securing this bid. Bidding for these tournaments began in earnest back in August of 2019 with over 3000 bid applications submitted.

Campus Director at The Ranch Events Complex, Chris Ashby, is excited to host an event of this caliber on the campus. “The award of these tournaments to The Ranch and the Budweiser Events Center reflects the dedication of our staff, the University of Denver, the Colorado Eagles and our local partners. We’re proud to host a collegiate competition of this level and look forward to the opportunity it will most certainly bring our community.”

The sport committee selected the host sites it believed would provide the best possible all around experience for the more than 54,000 student-athletes that compete in the NCAA Championships each year.
