Denver’ Dream House Raffle Hasn’t Given Away a House in 14 Years, and Probably Never Will
For nearly 15 years, people in Colorado have had the opportunity at winning an expensive house, while helping out kids. Now we find out that the kids are getting helped, but nobody's winning a house.
For the 2023 Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver Dream House Raffle, tickets start at $150. Part of that money goes to the kids, part of it to expenses, part of it to the prizes. It's a legitimate raffle, but the actual odds are slimmer than we may have ever believed, at getting that great house.
It's the "Mile High Raffle," having over 4,000 in prizes and odds of 1-20 that if you purchase a ticket, you'll be a winner. They do award lots of prizes, just not the house; like the 2023 $3 million 9,920 square-foot home they are promoting. Personally, I would let that prize go.
If you were to buy a Colorado Lottery lotto ticket, you'd be pretty upset to find out that for you to win that jackpot, a certain amount of people have to buy a ticket, like you did. That's what's coming to light with this Dream House Raffle with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver. 9News has the story on how in the fine print, we'll find that our chances at that house are nearly impossible; improbable, for sure.

WHY DON'T THEY AWARD THE HOUSE IN THIS RAFFLE?
Before you go out shopping for new swimwear for your indoor pool, you'll want to think about this: According to 9News, $12,000,000 in tickets would have to be sold to activate the "House" drawing. The raffle requires that 80,000 tickets have to be purchased for anyone to really win the house, otherwise they get a jackpot of "half the net proceeds" of the raffle.
BUT THEIR WEBSITE SAYS THEY HAD A GRAND PRIZE WINNER IN 2022?
They do state that somebody won "The" Grand Prize, just not the "residence" Grand Prize. It's not a lie, it's just not the winner that's implied by the overall nature of the raffle: "Somebody's going to win the Grand Prize of the Dream House." No, somebody's going to win "A" Grand Prize, but it's more of a "pipe dream" house, than the actual 'Dream House."
Again, it's not to say that the raffle does not give out any prizes, or that they don't give money to hep kids involved in the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver, but, it's highly unlikely that anyone will be signing paperwork on owning that Dream House.
