Berthoud Hosting Snow Sculpting Competition in December
Berthoud is set for four days of snow sculpting fun, including a lighted parade. You can even be a part of the competition – do you know how to stomp?
December 13 through 16 will be Berthoud’s 2nd annual ‘SnowFest’- which will include the Colorado State Snow Sculpting Competition. Teams from across the state will be putting their skills to the test to create the winning sculpture at Berthoud’s Fickel Park.
To create the sculptures they need big blocks of snow to be ‘stomped down.’ Volunteers will be stomping on December 11 and 12- you could help! Kids will have a shot at making sculptures, too. Pre-registered kids will get a 5-gallon bucket of stomped snow to make their creation!
December 16 at 10:00 a.m. the judging of the sculptures will conclude. They’ll announce the winner(s) later that day, as everyone starts to gather for the lighted parade, which starts at 5:00 p.m., with the lighting of the tree in Fickel Park and Christmas carols going on after the parade.
The sculptures will remain in Fickel Park for up to a week, so if you can’t make it out during the competition, you can still stop by and look at the creations!
