Can you combine two events that are never going to happen into a festival that might actually occur? Harnessing the disorganized energy of both the torpedoed Woodstock 50 festival and a farcical Area 51 raid promoted on Facebook last month, organizers have announced the inaugural Alienstock fest.

It's set to take place in Rachel, Nevada — the ufology-entrenched area adjacent to the U.S. Air Force's secretive Nevada Test and Training Range, which itself contains the storied Groom Lake installation Area 51 — this September 19-22.

Although participating artists and vendors have yet to be announced, the event is currently raising operational funds while touting itself as a "party in the desert" along with camping, music, art installations and some "surprise performances." See an advertisement for the fest down toward the bottom of this post.

"The viral event 'Storm Area 51, They Can't Stop All of Us' was created by Matty Roberts," the festival's website explains. "The Hidden Sound, an event producer, hopped on board to start networking connections for something to manifest. The event/movement captivated millions of alien-enthusiasts. After discussing options with industry-leaders in the world of music festivals, Matty decided to move forward with this event. After traveling out to Rachel … and speaking with land owners, we collectively agreed to host Alienstock!"

Two million people signed on for the Area 51 raid, as reported by The Washington Post, even though it was indeed a joke. Two weeks ago, Woodstock 50 was officially canceled after it lost its financial backers and concert site in the preceding months. Find out more about the upcoming Alienstock festival here.
