63 People Arrested in Colorado and Wyoming as Part of ICE Operation

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested 63 people in Colorado and Wyoming as part of an operation focusing on people with "criminal histories" living in the country illegally.

According to The Denver Post, 'criminal histories' refers to arrests or convictions relating to assault, domestic violence, or other crimes.

The publication reports that a Mexican citizen in Denver convicted of child abuse, a Mexican citizen in Longmont convicted of a DUI, and a Mexican citizen in Aurora facing assault, robbery, and abuse charges were among those ICE arrested.

In a statement about the arrests, ICE warned that anyone violating immigration laws could be subject to arrest or deportation.

"Behind each one of these arrests is a child who has suffered abuse or a battered spouse or a person who nearly died," read the release. "We specifically targeted our enforcement actions at abusers and helped victims by eliminating the threat posed by the perpetrators, and in some cases, preventing future victimization by recidivist offenders."
