You can call it cheesy, call it cliche, call it what you want, but how many bands do you know of that actually have their own built in holiday? It's not just a holiday for fans of 311, it's a ritual that is followed every year. As for the band, they do a pretty god job of celebrating their day too.

For a band that has been around for over 25 years, 311 is unique. They are still constantly touring, always making new music and fans, and keeping all the old ones in the process.

I got into this band at a time I didn't know exactly what I was. Was I a nerd? A hippie? Was I hardcore enough? Honestly, I didn't care. Their music made me feel good. It was like nothing else. 311's message of positivity kept me coming back, and always made me realize that even after a hard day the world is a better place if you just love people and love life itself.

The band almost always puts on 311 Day Concerts in which they play a set much longer than the typical 311 show, and they play a variety of songs to please their hardcore fans. This year they rock New Orleans.

But 311 Day is extra special this year, because the band also released a brand new record, Stereolithic. You can listen to the new single “Five of Everything” here.

So to celebrate true 311 fans are supposed to:

  • Listen to 311 songs nonstop for the entire day, obviously.
  • Treat yourself to some 311 merchandise. It’s all on sale today!

Everyone's favorite 311 song to celebrate (mine anyways)...
