April 22, 2023, is Record Store Day across America and it looks to be the biggest one, yet. Vinyl record sales are very much on the upswing, again, as more and more people are getting into the sound and feel of a real record.

With this event, independent record stores will each be offering their own set of releases, as there isn't a "standard" that they are mandated to follow. While you may not be able to visit all of the participating stores (not every shop is in,) we do have a list of two dozen that you should try to stop in at.

When you look back at some of the great record stores that used to be in Colorado, like Rocky Mountain Records and Tapes, and The Finest Records, Record Store Day can really take a Coloradan back in time.

These shops in Colorado that are participating in Record Store Day (RSD) will be highlighting many new releases (being "dropped" on RSD,) but it's also a great way to get into these shops and get some great "classic" stuff.

When you stop in at any of these shops, be sure to thank them. They are the ones that are getting people to listen to vinyl more these days. They put in long hours every week because they take music, and the production of music, seriously.

They may be small shops, they may be VERY small shops, but they all have their own "heart," and they all have vinyl in their soul. The all definitely carry their own eclectic variety of records, and that's they way it should be. Having a record store is not about "fitting in," it's about independence and making people smile.
