Christmas is the most magical time of the year – it’s the perfect opportunity to spend time with your loved ones and share the gift of giving.

For many people, their furry friends are also part of the family and are therefore included in the season’s celebrations.

Innovet Pet – the leading provider of innovative, natural well-being products for pets – conducted a study of 2,500 pet owners and found that one third of Colorado pet owners will be spending more on their pet than their partner this Christmas.

Also, 29% of the people surveyed said they give their pet a special "Christmas meal" each year. Just be careful what you give your pet. Many foods that we don't even realize are toxic to your pet.

Do NOT feed your pet chocolate, nuts, raisins, sultanas, currants and grapes. Be extra careful with fruits that have pits or "stones." Not only are they a choking hazard but a lot of the "pits" contain cyanide, which is poisonous to pets.

Some foods that you CAN feed your pets this holiday season are Turkey, (with no skin or any sauce) winter vegetables and potatoes.

37% of people surveyed said said that Colorado pet owners admit to dressing up their pets in Christmas outfits.

29% admit to signing Christmas cards with their pet's name and 1 in every ten surveyed admitted to buying their pet a advent calendar for the holiday.
