A chocolate treat for kids that is known around the world but has not been available in the U.S. will hit Wal-Mart shelves on Black Friday.

Kinder Eggs have been available in 170 countries, but banned here due to the 1938 Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act which gave authority to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to oversee the safety of food, drugs, and cosmetics.

Why would this law pertain to this treat?

Inside the chocolate covered egg is a small toy that can and has led to choking issues with children. The parent company that makes the product, Ferrero, has finally come up with a version that is compliant with our laws and are, most importantly, safer for the kids. Why don't other countries have the same laws? Good question. This egg is extremely popular around the world and sold across 87% of the globe before they changed their ways and made it legal in the U.S.

The new U.S. version will have chocolate, cream, and two wafers on one side while the other side will have a sealed plastic toy. They will be sold exclusively at Wal-Mart for 30 days starting on Black Friday and will sell for about $1.34 each.
