When you go up to the mountains, you go up to get away from it all. The people... The noises... The trash. As you know, some people suck and don't care about our mountains and the fragile ecosystem that it holds. Some people don't have enough common courtesy to pick up after themselves and leave trash all over the place. One Instagram account that went by TrailTrashCO has been very popular among Coloradoans shaming these people who are careless and well... TRASHY.

The Instagram account would show the aftermath of what some people did on the trails, in the mountains, etc. Now, the account has been shut down according to the account holder. Reddit user trailtrashco, made a post about the account being suspended in the Denver forum. The user said "I won't be appealing the ban, so the age of trailtrashco has come to and end. Thanks for all of the support". They also added "All I ask is that you keep doing your best to keep the woods clean, and don't be afraid to speak up when someone is being trashy in the forest or on the trail."

The social media site decided to shut down the account which we can only assume it was for "content that targets private individuals to degrade or shame them" per Instagram's rules.

Reddit users were urging the original account holder to start a new account or to start up a stand alone website featuring these photos of people doing crappy things to our forests. Other Reddit users said that the Instagram account encouraged them to speak up when they saw someone doing something that they shouldn't be doing in the forest and the trails.

I guess you could say there is a fine line for these terms that Instagram has for if this would be considered shaming or not. In reality, these people being caught littering in the forest and just doing trashy things in general is unlawful. If a photo of someone doing things like this can bring awareness and possibly change the course of action people take while in the forests, I am all for an account like this. Keep Colorado Colorful! If you want to keep it that way, you have to be a part of the solution, not the problem.
