In the '80s, the master of horror Stephen King gave us Pet Sematary, likely frightening people away from the woods for a good long time. The film was adapted for the big screen in 1989, and now a new generation gets to experience the story of good intentions gone horrifically wrong after tampering with a burial ground.

This latest installment was directed by Kevin Kolsh and Dennis Widmyer and centers on the family of Dr. Louis Creed, played this time by Zero Dark Thirty and Terminator Genisys actor Jason Clarke. With their family relocating to the remote woodsy town in rural Maine, they soon discovers a mysterious burial ground in the forest behind their house.

The burial ground has existed for years and they family initially feels it to be harmless, that is until a neighbor (John Lithgow) reveals some of the bizarre happenings that have occurred related to it. Once tragedy strikes, Dr. Creed makes a decision concerning the burial grounds that could have unexpected and dire consequences. Watch the new trailer in full below.

In addition to Clarke and Lithgow, the new version of the film also stars Amy Seimetz, Jete Laurence and Hugo and Lucas Lavoie.

Pet Semetary is expected to be released on April 5 and will make its world premiere at the SXSW film festival.
