According to the Coloradoan, Denis Bame of Medicine Bow, Wyoming was driving north on U.S. 287 when his Toyota truck crossed into the southbound lane hitting the semi head-on. Bame was pulled out of his vehicle before it was engulfed in fire, but he died on the scene. Nobody in the semi was injured.

Colorado State Patrol Sgt. Rob Madden told the Coloradoan that they are investigating drugs as a contributing factor in the crash.
