Yesterday evening, at about 7:05 p.m., a Larimer County Sheriff's deputy went to the home of Stephen Scannapieco to arrest him on multiple outstanding warrants. When Scannapieco saw they deputy, he ran back into his home and barricaded himself.

After deputies set up a perimeter around the home, they made numerous attempts to contact Scannapieco with telephone and PA announcements with no response. Deputies then entered the home and found him hiding in the crawl space below the home. When Scannapieco refused to budge, a K9 came in after him. After being bitten by the K9, Scannapieco again would not comply.

At about 11:20 p.m., The Larimer County Regional SWAT team responded and deployed gas and pepperball into the home and crawl space, but Scannapieco was not moving. He did finally surrender at about 4:30 a.m. Sunday morning and was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries, including dog bites. He has been booked into the Larimer County Jail and charged on multiple warrants.
